The current research aimed at revealing the most important features of the educational thought of St.

Beman, bishop of Mallawi, which would contribute to building an integrated, normal personality, by identifying the cultural influences that affected his thought and personality and highlighting the educational dimensions and principles on which his philosophy was based, as well as identifying the most important lessons learned from it (whether in its educational or value dimensions) through which he sought to emphasize the social cohesion and spiritual transcendence.

the research relied on the descriptive method, and reached a set of results, the most prominent of which are : the reliance of St.

Beman on the practical application of Christian commandments and teachings in the field of education and his interest in the practical and applied aspect of educational curricula through practice and experience.

this is evident in his definition of education, his identification of goals and his handling of the educational process elements, as well as establishing a set of foundations for raising children based on growth by taking off, building by example, obedience through understanding, and growth through knowledge, in addition to studying the spirit of the age and facing its negative aspects.

the research also revealed his knowledge of the dimensions of education, through which he combined the foundations of both public education and the Christian education, and being influenced by john Dewey’s educational theory, and Maria Montessori’s approach to education.

that is, among the most important principles on which his educational thought was based are the principle of freedom, the principle of kindness, the principle of educational playing, the principle of self-learning, and the principle of learning life through life.
