Abstract EN

The current study aimed to identify the relationship between fear of infection with the coronavirus, self-esteem and anxiety and depression symptoms among university students in the Gaza strip, the descriptive analytical approach was used, and the sample consisted of 309 students (228 females and 81 males).

fear of infection with the corona scale, self-esteem scale, and anxiety and depression scale were used.

the results showed that there are statistically significant correlations between fear of infection with the corona virus, self-esteem and anxiety and depression symptoms (except for fear of infection with corona and self-esteem).

also, the results of the study showed that there is a negative, statistically significant relationship between self-esteem and anxiety and depression symptoms.

in addition, the results showed that there were statistically significant differences in the fear of infection with the corona virus according to age, gender, and educational achievement.

younger students, females, and those with lower achievement reported higher levels of fear of infection of the coronavirus.

the results also indicated that there were statistically significant differences in self-esteem due to academic achievement, where high-achieving students scored higher levels of self-esteem.

finally, the results showed that there were statistically significant differences in anxiety and depression symptoms due to gender.
