Abstract EN

The study aimed to investigate the reality of vocational maturity among a sample of talented and normal students at the schools of Ajloun governorate, Jordan, and its relationship with some demographic variables (gender, grade, educational level of the parents) and academic achievement.

to achieve the study objectives, the researcher used the vocational maturity test developed by krits, and translated into Arabic by alsafasfeh (1993).

the validity and reliability of the test were acceptable.

the sample consisted of 291 students, 96 of whom were talented students, and 195 were normal students.

it was a stratified random sample selected from the high basic and secondary schools.

means, standard deviations, t-test, anova and the correlation coefficients were used to analyze the data.

the results showed that the reality of vocational maturity between the talented and normal students was medium in terms of the degree of independence in vocational choice, the availability of information and success in vocational decision-making.

in addition, regarding the student's type, there were statically significant differences α≤ 0.05 in the total vocational maturity degrees between the talented and normal students in favor of the normal students.

furthermore, regarding the grade and educational level of the parents, there weren’t any statically significant differences in the total vocational maturity degrees between the talented and normal students.

however, regarding gender, there were statically significant differences α≤ 0.05 in the total vocational maturity degrees between the talented and normal students in favor of the females.

the study also concluded that there weren't any correlation in the reality of total vocational maturity degrees between the normal students and the academic achievement except for the dimensions of vocational decision- making and availability of information for decision- making among the talented students.

the study suggested some recommendations on the basis of the results of the study.
