This paper deals with the proxemics concept that bases mainly on distance.

Although this notion does not take one form, societies of different cultures agree on putting norms for different distances between communicators.

It depends on the criteria they established for every kind of distance.

The author studies the distance as an essential communicative factor that could participate in succeeding or failing the whole process.

Distance does not express only the material space, but it also functions as a communicative component that language needs in every interactive situation.

The paper discusses the relationship between communication and both kinds of verbal and non-verbal interaction, implicating its connection to the social culture.

It investigates the effect of distance in the communicative field.

Finally, it will approach the accompanying factors of the proxemics action, like body language, gestures, sounds, the direction of sight and appearance.
