Trades and crafts arose in Palestine over 5000 years ago.

its inception in the Neolithic period was merely a meeting for humans’ basic needs -- particularly with regard to creating utensils and day-to-day tools.

despite going through many stages until now, trades and crafts had gained many features, the most important of which is being mentioned in scriptures and also being affected with the general atmosphere of each era -- especially the political atmosphere.

all of this had contributed in turning trades and crafts into a form of sacred art that reflects the national identity.

trades and crafts faced many adversities and obstacles that had negatively affected them.

the most prominent of these were nature and politics.

the natural challenges that faced trades and crafts were presented in the latter’s dependence on nature for their primary resources.

political challenges were presented in the political landscape, mainly and most dangerously the Israeli occupation and its obstructions, deliberately targeting and attempting the annexation of those sectors to the occupation’s, the denial of permits, taxation, and the interdiction of developing these trades and crafts or exporting them.
