English Abstract

The Architecture Engineering and Construction industry (AEC) in Libya plays a major role in the growth and also for what it needs of reconstruction because of what happened in it.

Building Information Modeling (BIM) is a system that solves many Of the problems, and complications that may occur obstacles in projects during implementation due to plans and documentation.

It also has many benefits at all stages of the project from planning, design, and scheduling to the operation and demolition stage.

A convenience sampling method has been employed to collect data from respondents.

And researcher used both (fieldwork and emails) to reach practitioners from different companies, the questionnaire was completed by 112 respondents (Manager, Engineer, Owner, Architect, and Contractor), The obtained data were analyzed using mean and standard deviation and ANOVA.

The results indicate that the use of BIM in companies Libya is still low compared to developed countries AEC industry.

Most companies may not use BIM due to the situations in Libya.

That the main reason for drivers to implementing BIM in Libya were is "Recognized Productivity improvements", "Potential additional services".

key perceived barriers on the other hand were: in Libya are "High cost of using BIM", "Lack The results indicate that also to identify Critical success factors most important related to Technological is Factor “BIM-based software is sufficiently developed to support the business functions”, it can be developed by providing the appropriate infrastructure, as well as engineers with experience in using BIM.

And the Organizational Factor was “Change of organizational culture”.

It developed by encouraging and supporting decision-makers in the construction sector to move to using BIM technology programs instead of other programs.

And Personal Factor was “Staff experience and skills”, and emphasis must be placed on the skills and experience of employees in the construction sector in order to ensure that BIM is used in a highly efficient.

Also financial factor was “Financial support from the government to set up BIM system”, and its importance is through the issuance of the necessary regulations and laws that help the use of BIM.

Finally legal factor was “Legal measures concern intellectual property (IP) and protection of copyrights”, and it is by developing copies of contracts and regulations necessary to create a basis for relations between BIM users.

The study recommend researching the optimal strategies for implementing BIM systems in accordance with the approved regulations, legislations and laws, and with a sequence of work to ensure optimal use of these systems during the project life cycle.
