Abstract EN
Background: There are multi factor aid the infection by parasite in Sudan, in addition to tropical area it may be due to contaminated food and water by parasite, hygiene and agriculture increase prevalence rate, the objective of this study is to Determinate the possible association between some intestinal protozoa and helicobacter pylori in ombada in Khartoum state.
Methods: This study was conducted to detect the infection rate of the Entamoeba histolytica, Giardia lamblia and Entamoeba coli parasite and to determine the relationship between them and Helicobacter pylori bacteria among patients attending ombada clinic center during the period from January 2019 to March 2020.The number of examined samples were 600, and the smear examined by direct microscopy.
Results the total infection rate was 77 (12.8%) positive samples and 523(87.1%) negative samples the G.lamblia was dominant in 28 (36%) patients, followed by E.histolytica with rate 25 (32.4%), and E.coli 24 (31.1%) the infection rates for males were higher than for females.
55(71.4%) and 22(28.5%) of females, respectively.
The infection rates varied between age groups, as the highest rate of infection was in the age 5-15 years, 45(58.4%), and the lowest rate of infection was in the age group 30-45 years, with a rate of 5(6.4%).
All positive samples were examined by rapid antigen test to detect H.pylori bacteria, and the results showed that 19(24.6%) samples were positive and 58(75.3%) were negative samples, and the co-infection of H.pylori with intestinal protozoa showed E.histolytica 10 (52.6%) were higher than that of G.lamblia 5(26.3%) and E.coli 4(21%).
