This article sheds a light on the role of ionizing radiation in protecting stored dry fruits from insect pests attack.

It discuses the importance of dry fruits, their nutritional value, economic importance and problems associated with storing dried fruits, particularly infestation with insect pests.

In addition, it discusses the possibility of using gamma irradiation as an alternative to Methyl bromide (MB) and other traditional methods for their control and the criteria used for determining the irradiation dose.
