The nuclear research reactors are usually built to obtain a good thermal neutron flux in the reactor reflector, which exists around the reactor core.

The reactor usually has many irradiation channels.

These channels are used to irradiate the samples in the reactor core by the thermal neutron flux and gain many useful applications of the research reactor.

There are many applications of the research reactor such as: analyze the unknown samples using the Neutron Activation Analysis (NAA) method, studying crystals using the Neutron Scattering method, Neutron Radiography, Fuel and Material Testing, Silicon Doping, Radioisotope Production, Boron Neutron Capture Therapy (BNCT), Man Power Building in the fields of nuclear engineering, reactor physics, operation and maintenance of the nuclear research reactors.
