Abstract EN

Quranic education in Algeria started when this true religion (Islam) had entered into this free country, and developed remarkably through the means and the tools.

Quranic education incubators extended to the length and breadth of the country in the east, west, north, south, and the middle.

The curricula of these Quranic schools varied, but their outline revolves around the same features.

These schools were concerned with reinforcing the recitation of the Noble Qur’an, correcting any mistakes in the recitation, and memorizing it.

The supporting curricula varied from one school to another.

The cunning plans devised by the French colonization for these countries affected the expansion of these schools.

The free people of Algeria believed that the colonization is trying to sever their relationship with the Quran, as the French were certain that the Qur’an is the secret of the Muslim renaissance.

So, the Algerians worked against that goal and expanded the Qur’anic schools in a way that included all the regions of Algeria, even places that are not reached by civilization.

These schools were faced with obstacles that limited their activities, the most important of which are: the period of the French colonization in Algeria and its efforts to dry up the sources of the Holy Qur’an, they succeeded to some extent, and then the Algerians realized these activities.

The competition of modern schools and civil education with Quranic education.

The impact of the French language on the Algerian language.

The limitation of funding, and the lack of supporting charities.

Although, there are solutions suggested by the study, such as dedicating special endowments for teaching the Noble Qur’an, combining modern education and Quranic education, and some other suggestions.
