واقع استخدام وسائل التواصل الاجتماعي و أثرها في استمرار "التعلم عن بعد" في ضوء جائحة كوفيد-19 من وجهة نظر الطلبة في فلسطين

Abstract EN

This study aims to investigate the status of using Social Networking Sites (SNSs) and its effect on “distance learning” continuity during Covid-19 pandemic from the students’ perspectives in Palestine.

A questionnaire was designed to achieve the research goals, containing three main domains (the actual usage of SNSs, its easiness and benefits, and SNSs and Covid-19 crisis).

The descriptive approach was used, while the research sample was selected randomly and consisted of (410) students from Palestinian schools.

The results indicated that (Facebook) is the most SNSs used by students with (45,6%) percentage.

followed by (Instagram) with (22,2%) percentage.

Results also showed a very high degree of using SNSs Skills among the students, while the SNSs daily usage is high among the students.

In addition, the study revealed that using social media by students contributed to the continuity of distance education amid Covid-19 crisis with a high degree.

The results also indicated that the role played by social media in the continuity of distance learning amid Covid-19 crisis was not affected by the gender variable, but by the educational level, and availability of material requirements.

In light of these results, the researcher recommends to take advantage of all possibilities and features provided by social media in the field of distance learning in general, and in emergency cases in particular, given what they represent as a ready infrastructure that can be exploited in a positive way to enhance distance education.
