The study aimed to reveal the obstacles to transformation from the traditional learning in university education to the E-learning pattern with the students of the preparatory year at Qassim University, it also revealed the difference in the responses of the preparatory year students at Qassim University to the obstacles to transformation to the E-learning pattern at the level of significance (0.05), which is attributed to the variable of specialization (health – scientific).

It proceeded to provide a set of recommendations to enhance E-learning at Qassim University, the study used the descriptive analytical approach, the researcher prepared a questionnaire for the obstacles to transformation to the E-learning pattern with students of the preparatory year, and the number of study sample (310) students.

The study reached to that; these obstacles in order of their importance are: (personal obstacles, social obstacles, temporal obstacles, faculty members’ obstacles, technical obstacles, social obstacles, time obstacles, faculty obstacles and technical obstacle).

The degree of availability of personal, societal, and time obstacles came in a large extent, while the technical obstacles and the faculty obstacles were present to a moderate degree.

The study also revealed that; there are statistically significant differences in the students’ assessment of the obstacles that are attributed to the variable of specialization in favor of the scientific department.

The study presented many recommendations that contribute to activating the role of E-learning at Qassim University, including.

Directing the students of the preparatory year in university to the importance of developing the E- culture and keep pace with the modern technologies, considering it an important transformation in the education field far from the traditional pattern.

Strengthening the infrastructure in the field of technology in universities to keep pace with the rapid technological development, and enhancing that through the pioneer technical companies.

Emphasis on university faculty members to move towards E-learning, and reduce dependence on the old educational system, with the need to set schedules and office hours accordingly.
