Abstract EN

The current study aimed to reveal the level of social intelligence, problem solving among students of engineering and medicine colleges at the Islamic University of Gaza.

It also aimed to investigate the relationship between social intelligence and problem-solving among the study sample.

The sample consisted of (281) students from the faculties of engineering and medicine.

Social intelligence scale (prepared by the researchers) and problem-solving scale (prepared by Abu Zayed, 2014) were used.

The researchers used the descriptive analytical method.

The results showed that students of the faculties of engineering and medicine obtained a high level of social intelligence and problem solving.

Also, the results showed that there is a significant correlation between social intelligence and problem solving.

The study also showed that there is a statistically significant differences in problem solving related to type of the study in favor engineering students.

In contrast, there were no significant differences in social intelligence according to gender, type of the study and GPA.

Similarly, there were no statistically significant differences in problem solving according to gender, type of the study and mother's education.

Recommendations: choosing courses that include techniques, methods, and programs for solving problems for students of the faculty of medicine, and holding workshops and seminars aimed to introducing medical students to the methods and strategies used in solving problems.
