Rare benign soft tissue glomus tumor in the first webspace of the hand : a case report

Glomustumor is a rare benign tumor of the glomusbodywhich frequently appears in the subungual region but very rarely occurs in other sites.

Paroxysmal pain and hypersensitivity to touch are the presenting symptoms however, it is commonly associated with delayed diagnosis.

We are reporting a case of 35 years old healthy male patient who presented with 10 years history of left-hand first web space pain, swelling and fullness with multiple clinic visits.

Despite that, management was delayed due to the unusual presentation of his tumor.

Literature showed that 70% of these tumors appear in the hands, Moreover, 50% of these tumors appear in the subungual region and associated with some x-ray's findings.

However, in our case, the tumor was completely hidden in the soft tissue of the first web space which contributed to the delayin the diagnosis and treatment.

After full investigations and imaging were performed, Surgical excision was performed.

The excised soft tissue was sent for histopathology analysis which confirmed the diagnosis of glomustumor.

Completeuneventful recovery wasachieved, and the patient was satisfied at the end of the treatment.
