The psychodynamic model of mental illness has a long tradition in the history of psychiatry, and psychodynamic interventions are effective in treating many mental disorders.
Psychodynamic principles and theories need to be incorporated into the mainstream of psychiatric practice.
The dimensional approach of the International Classification of Diseases 11th Revision (ICD 11) highlights the importance of reviewing the psychodynamic principles in all groups of mental disorders.
