Factorial construction of existential love scale : research and application

Abstract EN

This research attempt to construct a scale of existential love among spouses through identifying the factorial construction and in accordance with Franklʾs existential theory , in addition to the identification the nature of existential love, research examined the significant differences due to gender and years of marriage .

Researchers devised a set of items that would adequately represent the existential love in terms of self - report , distributed at three components .

the scale has applied to (400) married teachers (155 men and 245 women).

Factor analysis revealed three factors, altruism loyalty , union.

Reliability has examined using Cronbachʾs alpha, values of alpha for the three factors were (0.940) , (0.916), (0.853) respectively , research reveals the presence of existential love among participants.

No gender differences were found , however, significant differences were found between spouses who have been married for (16 years of or more).
