The current research aims to identify (thought control strategies and their relationship to cognitive distortion among Baghdad University students).

The current research sample consisted of (400) male and female students who were chosen by the stratified random method with a proportional distribution.

The strategies are (distraction, social control, anxiety, punishment, and re-evaluation).

And by (6) paragraphs for each strategy, and it was presented to a group of expert arbitrators, and the psychometric properties of it were extracted from honesty and reliability.

The current research reached the following results: 1.

The research sample has strategies (social control, distraction, re-evaluation) at a high level, while the strategy (anxiety, punishment) at a medium level.

Decreased cognitive distortion among university students as a result of students using the correct strategies in receiving, interpreting and re-evaluating information.

The relationship between strategies (social control, distraction, re-evaluation) with cognitive distortion is an inverse relationship, while the relationship of strategies (anxiety, punishment) with cognitive distortion is a direct relationship.

Concerning the differences in the relationship between thought control strategies and cognitive distortion according to the variable of gender and specialization.

The results showed the following: _ There are statistically significant differences in the relationship between strategies (social control, re-evaluation) with cognitive distortion according to the gender variable in females is greater than males, but there are no statistically significant differences in strategies (distraction, anxiety, punishment.
