Abstract EN
The current research aims to identify: (historical inquisitiveness and its relationship to the achievement of social subjects among intermediate first grade students) In order to achieve the objective of the research, the following questions must be answered: 1.
Recognizing the historical inquisitiveness among intermediate first grade students.
2- Identifying the correlative relationship between historical inquisitiveness and the achievement of social subjects among intermediate first grade students.
3.
The extent to which the historical curiosity contributed to the achievement of the subject of social studies.
The current research is limited to: A sample of intermediate first-grade students in the subject of social studies in public intermediate and secondary morning schools of the General Directorate of Education in Diyala province / Al- Khalis district for the academic year (2020-2021).
As the population of the current research consists of (3,407) intermediate first grade students, who have been distributed over (33) schools.
The researcher used the descriptive approach, and the research sample consists of (350) students from the public intermediate and high schools for the academic year (2020-2022), who have been chosen by the method of stratified random sampling from intermediate first grade students, and the research sample has been figured out based on equation of Steven Thompson.
Concerning the research instrument, the researcher has adopted the scale of historical inquisitiveness prepared by Al-Ajili (2018), which consists in its final form of (30) items, which are distributed into five subfields ( Preference of historical subjects, enjoyment of learning more about historical subjects, appreciation of science and scholars, attitude of participation in extracurricular activities and motivated historical research and investigation).
Each of these areas may be consisted of (6) items, after deriving the face validity and then verifying the reliability by re-testing, which reached (0.478).
Pearson's rule has also been used in finding the correlation between historical inquisitiveness and students’ achievement.
The scale has been applied to a sample of (350) students.
After processing the data statistically using (Pearson correlation coefficient in finding the stability and correlational relationship, T-test for one sample, the simple linear regression coefficient) the following results were reached: 1.
There is high curiosity among intermediate first-grade students.
2.
There is a positive statistically significant correlation between historical curiosity and academic achievement.
3.
Historical Inquisitiveness contributes to academic achievement in statistical significance.
