Abstract EN

The study aimed to build a program based on the functional approach to developing fourth-grade students’ linguistic literacy skills.

To achieve this goal, the researcher prepared a list of the linguistic literacy skills suitable for fourth-grade students, and a test to measure these skills was designed.

The researcher also built a program based on the functional approach to developing linguistic Literacy skills for fourth-grade students.

The study results demonstrated the program’s effectiveness in the development of linguistic Literacy skills in the field of reading and writing as a whole and the effectiveness of the program in the development of sub-skills of linguistic Literacy skills.

The study recommended incorporating the linguistic Literacy skills in the curricula of teaching the Arabic language, taking into account the scope and sequence matrix of Saudi Arabia and distributing it hierarchically to the elementary grades
