Abstract EN

The study aimed to reveal the level of cognitive distortions, and its relationship with borderline personality disorder symptoms among Jordanian university students.

The sample consisted of (1235) students chosen randomly from six public universities, who are enrolled in the first semester of the academic year 2020/2021.

A cognitive distortions and the borderline personality disorder scales were used.

The results showed that the level of cognitive distortions among Jordanian university students was moderate, and the prevalence of borderline personality disorder among them was (12.15%).

The results also showed a significant differences in the level of cognitive distortions among students due to the gender, in favor of males, and significant differences in the prevalence of borderline personality disorder in favor of females, while showed no differences in the tow variables due to the college.

Moreover, the results showed a significant positive correlation relationship between cognitive distortions and borderline personality disorder symptoms.

According to these findings, the researchers recommend the necessity of preparing educational programs aimed at reducing cognitive distortions among students.
