Abstract EN

This research paper aims to shed light on the reality of the informal economy in the Algerian economy.

For this reason, we have followed the descriptive analytical approach.

We reviewed the concept of the informal economy, its characteristics, and its causes.

On the other hand, this study was exposed to the methods of measuring the informal economy, the areas of the informal economy in Algeria.

The study also focused on the efforts of the Algerian government to eliminate the informal economy, and the Algerian government's programs to eliminate parallel markets.

This study concluded that the informal economy remains a refuge for unemployed youth due to the absence of long-term productive investments that open permanent jobs and provide scarce goods and services in the markets despite the efforts made by the state to eradicate this phenomenon.

The study concluded with a number of results and suggested recommendations that serve the objectives of the study.
