The digital revolution has affected scientific production, communication and ways of preserving knowledge.

The technology came to allow researchers to manage their digital content.

The high prices of journal subscriptions, the control of some publishers over copyrights, and the imposition of strict restrictions and laws limited the ability of researchers, libraries, and research centers to access and see the outputs of scientific research and benefit from them.

The current study sheds light on digital repositories and their role in Support free access to scientific information.

The study aims to identify the growing role played by libraries in disseminating intellectual production and facilitating access to it, with an examination of the experience of the digital repository of West Kordofan University and its role in supporting the movement of free access to information.

The importance of this study stems from increasing the spotlight on this academic institution and highlighting its position among Sudanese universities in particular and international universities in general.

The study used the descriptive analytical method by using a random sample of library and information specialists and a number of students, researchers and professors and distributing a questionnaire to them.
