Abstract EN

The Palermo protocol for preventing, suppressing and punishing Human trafficking crime, especially against Women and Children, has recognised a set of fundamental rights for these two categories.

Thus, the protocol appealed each State member to guarantee and protect the rights of victims of this crime, and to safeguard their human dignity.

These rights range from substantive rights such as the right to safety and personal inviolability, health, and the right to return home, as they emphasize their legal existence as victims of human trafficking.

Procedural rights relate to the right to information and legal representation, to hear their statements before the courts and to redress damages.
