Abstract EN

The study aimed to identify the most important internal and external obstacles that prevent democratic transition in the Arab countries.to answer the study’s questions and to verify the validity of its hypotheses, the descriptive and analytical approach was employed, the study revealed that the concept of democratic transformation expresses a new method for practicing politics and the pursuit of power, it is synonymous with other concepts such as political transformation, democratic transition, political reform, and democratization, the pattern of democratic transformation varies from one country to another according to the nature of the existing political system, the most important internal reasons that hinder the process of democratization in the Arab countries are: the nature of the authoritarian system, economic crises, and the weakness of political parties and civil society institutions.

as for the external reasons, they are represented by the pressures of the international financial institutions to move towards democratization without the conviction of the states themselves, and the pressures of the dominant powers on top of it is the united states of America, which imposes, in the context of its rule on the world, the embodiment of western values based on the necessity of democratic transformation.
