Abstract EN

This study deals with a significant incident in Medina during the twelfth century AH / eighteenth century AD: The incident of dealing the “shamamah” from the Prophet’s Mosque.

It deals with the incident and works on defining the “shamamah”.

It Judies and analyzes how a group of the people of Medina took advantage of their positions to commit some violations and steal the “shamamah”, gifted by Persia’s ruler, Shah Hussein I, to be placed in the Prophet’s room by during the period (1118 AH-1121 AH / 1706 AD-1709 AD).

The ftudy focused on the documents that dealt with that incident.

In addition to the Ottoman documents that dealt with the incident, it relied on contemporary sources to bolder insufficient information about the incident.

Thus, the study covers a significant event in Medina in the Ottoman era.

The study consists of several axes: an introduction dealing with the importance of the topic and the reasons for choosing it, a preface that deals with samples of gifts sent to the Prophet’s Mosque, then touches on the “shamamah” issue: its description, correspondence regarding its arrival in Medina, the discovery of its theft, and then the measures taken by the Ottoman Empire regarding its theft; sending a committee to investigate the case, the results of the investigations, the collection of the “shamamah” parts, and finally the effects of the theft on the people of Medina.

The study concluded with a summary presenting the moS important results of the research.
