The current research aims to reveal (skills of lateral thinking and their relationship to the academic passion and achievement of female students of intermediate third-grade in subject of history ).

In order to achieve the research objective , the researcher adopted the correlative descriptive method as a study approach.

The research population is consisted by female students of intermediate third grade for academic at city center of Baquba for morning study for the academic year (2020-2021).

The study sample is consisted by (400) female students, who have been selected through the random stratified method.

The sample represents (13%) of the study population out of (3023) female students.

The researcher used two means: Test of Lateral Thinking Skills and the Academic Passion Scale.

The academic achievement scores for the sample have been drawn , represented by the average scores for the subjects midterm exam.

As the researcher adopted the Test of Lateral Thinking Skills prepared by Al-Janahi (2019), which consists of (31) questions distributed over the lateral thinking skills, namely: (the skill of generating new perceptions, the skill of generating new concepts, a skill of creating new ideas, the skill of finding new alternatives, the skill of creating new innovations).

The researcher found out the psychometric properties of the test and adopted the face validity and reliability coefficient of Alpha Cronbach.

The reliability is (0.83).

The researcher adopted the Academic Passion Scale prepared by Al-Mousawi (2019), which consists of (38) items.

The researcher verified the validity of the scale, so she adopted the face validity and the reliability coefficient by the method of testing and re-testing, so the reliability is (0.87).

After applying the two tools, data collection, and processing them statistically, the researcher used a number of statistical means from the statistical package for the social sciences (spss), including the arithmetic mean and the standard deviation, the T-test for one sample, the Pearson correlation coefficient and the Alpha Cronbach reliability coefficient, and the simple multiple regression.

- The researcher reached the follwinging result 1- female intermediate third grade passion lateral thinking skills 2- - female intermediate third graders have academic passion .

3- there is a correlation between lateral thinking skills and achievement in the 4- there is a correlation between lateral thinking skills and academic passion .

5- there is a positive correlation between academic achievement and passion .
