Abstract EN

The research deals with a topic related to the sustainability of social systems represented in a physical form in the heritage and contemporary areas in one of the most important areas of Baghdad, which is the Karkh center due to its specificity and the insertion of a hybrid physical and demographic structure on a heritage context.

The concept of the quality of social life as part of a comprehensive sustainable development concept that achieves the best social stability and development of the place with its ability to preserve the social characteristics of the place and achieve its reflection on the urban structure as a final product.

The problem of the research is the deterioration of the social patterns reflected on the physical structures and the occurrence of a disconnection state and social isolation between the heritage and contemporary areas and consequently the loss and gradual deterioration of the characteristics of this social and physical areas, the research assumed the selection of three areas of different social formats with different repercussions on the physical structure and activating the role of public participation in determining the availability of the social quality of life index in an attempt to identify the causes of deterioration and determine the direction of the vision that will promote it in order to achieve communities with a high social quality of life enjoying spatial identity Privacy at the level of the part and the whole.
