The paper tagged with the Sudanese borders, a reading in history and political geography, dealt with the emergence of the borders of Sudan and its development through various time periods by Standing on historical evidence, and the separating borders Starting from ancient times through the Christian era, the era of the Islamic caliphate, until the emergence of Sudan as a single unit during the era of the Ottoman Caliphate, then The Anglo-Egyptian era and the independence of Sudan; It ended with the secession of the soulh in 2011.

It also revealed the agreements and treaties signed in the name of Sudan, and between neighboring countries after independence, and presented comparisons of agreements and protocols that govern Sudan’s various borders with neighboring regional countries.

The importance of the paper comes from the role ofpolitical borders in confirming the sovereignty of the State over its lands, by following up on the continuous change that has accompanied the borders of Sudan, and the internal factors and changes in it.

The paper used many approaches, including: the historical approach to trace the Stages of development of the Sudanese borders, and used both the descriptive and analytical approaches to describe and analyze the developments that accompanied the political borders of Sudan, and relied on collecting primary and secondary information such as reports and previous Studies, and Arabic and foreign books, in addition to magazines and newspapers.

The paper reached a number of results: external and internal variables affected the political geography of Sudan, and that the wesTem borders of Sudan, which were set by the colonizer, are considered relatively Stable and distinct borders based on flat lands.

The paper proposes further documentation of Sudan’s borders, including pre- and poSt-independence treaties and agreements.

Which may lead to settling border disputes with its neighbors, or reaching a compromise solution that turns conflict areas into joint development areas.
