Background: An autoimmune effect and associated immunological changes subsequent in recurrent abortion.
Autoantibodies and complement activation lead to multisystem tissue damage have been proposed in patients with unidentified etiology.
Pregnant females with SLE considered at high risk of recurrent abortion.
Objectives: This study aimed to determine the frequency of autoantibody dsDNA among aborted women in Omdurman Maternity Hospital.
Methods: Cross sectional study to detect the presence of anti dsDNA antibody in the serum of aborted women in Omdurman Maternity Hospital using ELISA technique.
Result: A total of 83 aborted women enrolled in the study were negative for anti dsDNA antibody.
Conclusion: This study revealed that there are no significant correlation between SLE and abortion among aborted Sudanese women.
