Abstract EN

Social services constitute a key element in the triangle of poverty, disease and ignorance.

Whereas educational and medical services combat ignorance and disease, social services fight against all forms of poverty and lack in such a way that creates a close-knit and socially interdependent society where citizens feel the spirit of solidarity.

It should be stressed here that social services, like other services, need to be geographically distributed in such an equitable way that would enable us to derive their maximum benefit.

Accordingly, decision-makers lay much more emphasis on enhancing the social conditions as their first step towards development.

In this context, Egypt is regarded as the first Arab country to establish voluntary associations since the beginning of the nineteenth century.

The Egyptian society is currently witnessing an unprecedented increase in the growth of voluntary associations in many regions.

In addition, these associations have invaded new fields of work and contributed to the fulfillment of development agendas, together with the State and the private sector.

Hence, the sustainable development strategy "Egypt Vision 2030" stresses the effective role of these social entities in advancing social and economic development, especially at the present time.
