Abstract EN

The current research aims to identify the skills of solving physical problems.

The students of the fifth scientific grade in the city center of Baghdad.

The objectives of the research was verified by answering the following questions: 1- To What extent do the students of the fifth scientific possess the skills of solving physical problems? 2- What are the differences in posing the skills of solving physical problems according to the gender variable (male or female)? To answer these questions, the research tools prepared by the researcher was used.

1- Physical problem solving skills test, consisting of (23) paragraphs.

The researcher confirmed the validity of tools through the apparent sincerity by presenting the test paragraph to a group of experts in psychological and educational sciences and physics professors.

The researcher also verified the validity of construction of the test of solving physical problems skills through the method of two by extreme groups and calculating the coefficient of difficulty ,ease ,and distinction.

The stability of the tools was checked.

By extracting the stability coefficient by the internal consistency method (Alfa-Cronbach) and after the tool is ready.

The researchers applied the tools a random sample of (800) male and female students of the fifth scientific grade in the Baghdad governorate center for the academic year 2021-2022 using statistical methods, the results showed the following: 1- The students of the fifth scientific grade in the city of Baghdad possess problemsolving at a low and medium level.

And the skills of finding data and what is required are the most possessed skills, followed by the physical interpretation, and the skill of uniting units.

2- Female students have more skills than male students
