تبحث الدراسة الحالية دور روايات الخيال المناخي في زيادة الوعي حول تغير المناخ، أيضاً الى كيفية تصوير تغير المناخ والاحتباس الحراري في الروايتين المختارتين - غرق البندقية (مدينة فينسيا في ايطاليا ) للكاتب كم ستانلي روبنسون و العالم الغارق لجيمس غراهام بالارد.

على الرغم من نشر الرويتين في بلدين مختلفين (غرق البندقية في بريطانيا و العالم الغارق في امريكيا ) ، إلا أنهما تشتركان في الكثير من السمات والصفات حول مخاوفهما ووجهات نظرهما و رسائلهما حول مستقبل العالم و التي جاءت في الوقت المناسب و لتحقيق أهداف هذه الدراسة، قام الباحث بتطبيق نظرية النقد البيئي حيث تدرس هذه النظرية العلاقة بين الأدب و الإنسان و الطبيعة على كلتا الروايتين، و ذلك من أجل تزويد القراء بتصور واضح عن التحديات و الصعوبات الناجمة عن تغير المناخ و تحليل معمق للروايتين المختارتين.

و لتحقيق ذلك اعتمدت الدراسة الأساليب التحليلية والوصفية، حيث تناول الباحث و بطريقة معمقة قراءة وتفسير و تلخيص الروايتين المختارتين واللاتي شكلتا محور هذه الدراسة.

بالإضافة إلى ذلك ركز الباحث على كيفية تناول العملين لقضايا المناخ بشكل خيالي، مبينا عمق التعقيد في العلاقة بين البشر و الطبيعة.

و وجد الباحث أن تغير المناخ في الروايتين قد حدث بشكل طبيعي و لم يكن للإنسان أي دور في ذلك.

و في الختام وضعت الدراسة توصيات و أقتراحات يستفيد منها الباحثون المهتمون بالتغير المناخي و الاحتباس الحراري

English Abstract

The current study seeks to explore the role of climate fiction in raising awareness of climate change, as well as how climate change and global warming are portrayed in the two chosen works, Venice Drowned by Kim Stanley Robinson and The Drowned World by James Graham Ballard.

Although the two literary works were published in two different countries (Venice Drowned in America and The Drowned World in Britain), the two narratives share many common features in their concerns, viewpoints, and timely messages about the future of the world.

To achieve the goals of this study, the researcher applies the ecocriticism theory to both narratives to provide readers with clear challenges caused by the troubles of climate change and an in-depth analysis of two selected narratives that will assist people in understanding how to survive and adapt to climate change.

In this work, both analytical and descriptive techniques were adopted.

The researcher deeply summarized two climatic narratives that constitute the center of this study Furthermore, the researcher focuses on how climate change issues are fictionally expressed in the two selected narratives, revealing the deep complexity of human-nature relationships throughout the theory of ecocriticism.

The researcher found out that climate change in the two works occurred naturally, and man had no role to play in that change.

The study concludes with certain recommendations that might be of help to all those concerned with climate change and global warming and their impact on humanity.
