Abstract EN

The aim of the research is to analyze the content of chemistry units from the science book for the first intermediate grade according to the controversial issues forthe academic year (2020-2021).

54) A sub-case, after referring to the educationalliterature, and the opinions of arbitrators from specialists and some teachers ofchemistry, and the units of chemistry were analyzed according to the analysis tool, andthe results showed using frequencies and percentages as follows: The units of chemistry from the science book for the first intermediate grade got (112) recurring.

As for the inclusion of the main controversial issues, the aforementioned units included five of the main issues, their percentages ranged between (43.75% - 8.04%) except for the issue of chemical weapons, which did not include them.

Its percentage was (0%), and it was found that most of the sub-issues were not included in the content of chemistry units from the science book for the first intermediate grade, which were included in the prepared list of controversial issues.

The researcher believes that these issues can be included in the content of chemistry units from the science book for the first intermediate grade, as they are contemporary and important issues in a manner that is commensurate with the size of these issues, taking into account integration, sequence and balance, and in light of the results of the study, a set of conclusions, recommendations and suggestions were presented Of which: 1 Including controversial topics and issues in the content of chemistry units from the science book for the first intermediate grade 2 Recommending to researchers to conduct more studies on controversial issues and use the experimental method and use it with different variables such as achievement, academic and life skills of students and for different academic stages 3 Directing the attention of specialists in reforming science curricula, especially the chemistry curriculum, to the importance of including controversial issues as it is one of the modern trends in scientific education.
