Abstract EN

The issue of promotion of democracy was one of the main principles and concerns of American foreign policy.

The American official discourse was full of ideological symbolic expressions, in a belief that the process of exporting the democratic model represents a task that has been entrusted to the United States as a leader of Western regimes.

Therefore, for the purpose to clarify the content of this orientation, the present study explores the American perception of the commitment of democracy, so that to comprehend the importance of the stability of the international system which requires an analysis of the trends and behaviors of the United States.

In addition, it tends to understand to what extent the American foreign policy moves, in its approach to the democratization crisis in Syria, are compatible with its perceptions of the tracks and objectives of democratic promotion.

As a result, the present paper came to conclude a completely opposite response, that the American endeavor was based mainly on the purpose of turning Syria into a failed state and a source of widespread security threats.
