But these developments are also linked to the very principle of the use of criminal law as an instrument for the regulation of historical memory.

The truth of the law is always very reductive in comparison with historical truth, much more complex and nuanced.

The memory laws give nationalists and populists an instrument that is too convenient to manipulate the facts of the past, which reduces our chances of achieving an understanding of history based on its critical examination.
