The study of the morphology of rural settlements in the basin of Du'an vally - Hadhramaut is a geographical phenomenon with a cultural and social nature, The most prominent of its urban features that man has established on the land may include its tendency towards investment and stability in it according to the choice of the best places for the emergence of the settlement, as well as the stage at which the community reached to interact with its environment, and the Changes in villages that reflect organized behavior in terms of form, function and construction material appropriate to the economic and social activity in these rural villages.

Such features enabled us to identify the settlement's components and to frame the overall appearance of the plan, which includes (road network, plots, The architectural units it contains), the fabric of the construction, the uses of rural land and the role of natural and human factors in shaping it.

All these things lead us to conclude that the type of distribution of most rural villages in Du'an water basin are about (248) settlements, of which (136) settlements are located in the form of a longitudinal/linear pattern on the valleys and the road network, while about (112) settlements located on the plateau of the basin, which has the dispersed settlements pattern.
