Abstract EN

The crime of counterfeiting, or of falsification or alteration of currency is the most dangerous form of direct attack against currency, and considering the latter as a symbol of national sovereignty, the legislature has approved legal protection for it by the criminalization of any attack against currency, either by counterfeiting, or falsification or alteration, in accordance with article 197 of ordinance n ° 66-156 containing the penal code.

This study aims to determine the repressive policy adopted by the Algerian legislator to repress this offense and protect the national economy, by identifying some procedural provisions related to the follow-up of the perpetrators involved in the commission of this offense, and the special punitive system adopted by the Algerian legislator.
