Abstract EN

The study aims to investigate the long-term equilibrium relationship between domestic savings and the trade balance in the Algerian economy during the period from 1983 to 2021.

For this purpose, the Engel and Granger co-integration methodology was used, as well as the Granger causal methodology, after verification using unit root tests of The degree of integration of the study variables matches the first degree.

The results indicated the ence of a long-term equilibrium relationship between the two variables of the study, not to mention the ence of a causal relationship between them in both directions.

This can be justified by: the unilateralism of the national economy and the lack of economic diversification; Weakness of the savings mobilization vessel and the ence of the role of the financial market as an effective intermediary in Algeria.
