Some writers used magical realism to express their thoughts and the sufferings of their nations, because of the necessity to hide their protests and political, social and economic reality.

the novel also helps to protect themselves from the colonialists’ tyranny.

in some of his books such as al-Seniora, the Egyptian novelist Kheiri Shelby, addressed these issues of Egypt using magical realism style.

in this study we adopted the descriptive-analytical method to illustrate these techniques.

we concluded that, Khairy Shelby was successful in describing the tragic situation in Egypt brought on by foreigners, by using magical realism’s techniques, including fantasy, illusion, myth, symbols, surprise, strangeness and magic, integrating the real world with the unreal, and also by choosing silence and neutrality towards the ordinary or unusual facts.
