Abstract EN

The aim of the research is to reach the most important modern trends in distance university education through four main axes.

the first axis includes the foundations and theoretical perceptions of distance university education in terms of its philosophy, concept, goals, means and characteristics, and the most important techniques and methods of distance university education.

while the second axis included the most important global and local experiences and expertise in distance university education, as for the third axis, it dealt with the most important recent trends in distance education such as e-learning and virtual university education, mobile university education, education through electronic educational platforms, education through websites, and through social networking sites, education through open courses and then the trend towards adopting the existence of quality standards for distance education.

as for the fourth axis, it presents a proposed vision to benefit from these modern trends in distance education in the development of Egyptian university education.
