The article aims to reveal the relationship between Islam and democracy.

This led to the following question: what is the nature of the relationship between Islam and democracy? in this context, The article presents Two directions are: First direction: Sayyid Qutb categorizes democracy within the framework of Dar al-Kufr that lacks any adaptation and compatibility with Islamic state in terms of ontological and epistemological issues.

Therefore, the compatibility between Islam and democracy is impossible.

The second direction: Muslim scholars(Hassan Hanafi - Mohamed Amara - Hassan Al Banna) agree that the principle of shura is the source of democratic ethics in Islam.

In considering the compatibility of Islam and democracy.

Accordingly, there is a difference in the practice of democracy in the Islamic movements, for example the Tunisian Renaissance Movement accepted democracy, while the Islamic Salvation Front in Algeria has confused religion and politics.
