The aim of this research is to study the Berlin conference of 1884-1885, and to define the reasons for its establishment, its most important decisions and results, and its role in the process of colonial struggle on the African continent.

the researcher followed the descriptive and analytical method of historical research after collecting information from sources and references, then analyzing and discussing them and coming out with results and recommendations that ensured the end of the research.

the research concluded with many results, including that although the main reason for the establishment of the Berlin conference of 1884-1885 was to address the problem of the Congo, its merits developed and extended to organizing the division of the African continent among competing European countries, and it contributed greatly to organizing the process of partitioning the African continent.
