Since Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, the global crisis in fossil energy supplies has escalated in a way that has caused considerable confusion in the global economy.

this resurfaced pressing questions for policymakers about the feasibility of their plans for clean energies and the gradual disposal of burns given their negative environmental impacts.

this article attempts to examine the impact of the global natural gas supply crisis on Algeria’s energy transition policy by addressing the effects on plans to promote the share of clean energies locally and the role of natural gas on the one hand, and on the other hand, the effects of the current global crisis on a possible rethinking of the natural gas site in Algeria’s energy strategy and its relations with regional and global markets.

the article concluded that, in the current global gas supply crisis, Algeria’s vast reserves of conventional and shale natural gas make it an important and less costly component of the national energy transition strategy.
