The aim of the research is to examine the relationship of alexithymia with: social stigma and methods of coping with stress, and predicting alexithymia in light of methods of coping with stress and social stigma among mothers of mentally handicapped children.

in Abbasiya-Cairo, their ages range from (25-45) years, an arithmetic mean (32.037) and a standard deviation (2.645), and the social stigma scale prepared by the researcher was applied to them, and the measures of coping methods prepared by the researcher, and the alexithymia scale prepared by the researcher, and the research found that there are there is a positive correlation between alexithymia and social stigma.

there is a positive correlation between each of the stress coping methods (denial, self-blame, and restraint), while there is a statistically significant negative correlation between each of the stress coping methods (positive re-evaluation of the problem-confrontation style to solve).
