Abstract EN

The aim of this research is to give a general idea on the Greek, Hellenistic and Roman lamps by conducting an applied study for an unpublished group of lamps in the museum of Cyrene city.

this was done to shed some light on the lamps in terms of their tools technology, raw materials, and manufacturing methods during the Greek, Hellenistic and Roman times.

the method applied for this research was a historical, descriptive and analytic method.

while the historical method was exemplified in determining the period of time in which the lamps appeared in Greece and Rome, the archaeological descriptive method was exemplified in describing the shape of the lamps, symbols and images which appeared on their surfaces.

on the other hand, the analytical method was exemplified in the analysis of symbols, images, and opinions that were reached by earlier researchers on this topic.
