The current study aimed to develop physical thinking skills and reduce anxiety about physics among secondary school students by using the PQ4R strategy.

To achieve this goal, the previous literature was reviewed to determine the appropriate physical thinking skills for secondary school students in physics, and a unit (linear motion) was prepared in the light of the PQ4R strategy.

A teacher's guide and worksheets were prepared to be used inside and outside the classroom.

Also, a physical thinking and anxiety reduction test was prepared in physics.

To verify the effectiveness of the strategy, a group of first secondary school students were selected and divided into two groups, one experimental group (46 students) who studied the unit with the proposed strategy and one control group (44 students) who studied the unit with the traditional way.

The tools of the study were applied before and after studying the unit.

The results showed that there are Statistically significant differences between the mean scores of the experimental and control group students in the post application of the study tools in favor of the experimental group.

That indicates the positive effect of the PQ4R strategy in developing physical thinking skills and reducing anxiety about physics among secondary school students.

And the existence of a negative correlation between the development of physics thinking skills and the reduction of physics anxiety, and the research recommended paying attention to activating learning in different scientific textbooks (physics - chemistry - biology) using modern teaching strategies.
