تبحث هذه الورقة التأثيرات الاقتصادية للاتجاهات العمرية باستخدام نموذج OLG لفترتين و منطقتين، بالإضافة إلى التوقعات السكانية للدول المتقدمة و دول الشرق الأوسط و شمال أفريقيا.
إذ يقوم العمال المهاجرون بتغيير التركيب و التوازن السياسي بين الناخبين من صغار و كبار السن في الدول المستقبلة للعمالة و تلك المصدرة لها على حد سواء.
و تبين المحاكاة الرقمية أن منطقة الشرق الأوسط و شمال أفريقيا تستفيد أكثر من حركة رأس المال البشري الدولية.
و يؤدي تحديد الهجرة أو المشاركة السياسية للعمال المهاجرين في الدول المتقدمة إلى نتائج نمو أقل لمنطقة الشرق الأوسط و شمال أفريقيا.
حيث توضح الدراسة أن دول الشرق الأوسط و شمال أفريقيا ستعاني بشدة من عوائد منخفضة للتعليم فيما يتعلق بالنمو و الاستهلاك.
Abstract EN
This paper examines the economic effects of aging trends using a two-period, two-region OLG model and the population projections for the developed and MENA countries.
Migrant workers change the political balance of young and elderly voters in both labor-receiving and labor-sending countries.
Numerical simulations show that the MENA region benefits more from international capital mobility.
Restricting migration or political participation of migrant workers in the developed region produces inferior growth results for the MENA region.
The study reveals that the MENA countries would suffer significantly from lower return to education in terms of growth and consumption.
