This research aimed to explore the effectiveness of the strategy of self-questioning to develop the skills of generative thinking in the following dimensions (fluency - flexibility - prediction in the light of data - setting hypotheses - recognizing errors and fallacies) In chemistry, To achieve that was used the experimental approach with a semi-experimental design, the generative thinking skills test was prepared, and applied on a sample of (60) students of the 1^nd grade in two schools the administration of West Mansoura in Dakahlia governorate, where they were divided into (30) female students for the experimental group, (30) students for the control group, and the results resulted in the presence of a statistically significant difference in favor of the experimental group in generative thinking skills, which indicates the effectiveness of using self-questioning strategy in the development generative thinking skills.
