Egypt's position on the demands of Sudan's independence, and the acceptance of this independence by President Gamal Abdel Nasser on January 1, 1956, still casts a shadow over the nature of the accusations leveled at the man and the group that held the file so far.

As they have neglected the Sudan and caused its loss forever.

Especially since Britain has placed an obstacle for Sudan in all the negotiations that took place between it and Egypt, and it did not neglect Sudan by an inch.

Where matters reached Egypt's acceptance of the right to self-determination, and the choice between independence or union with Egypt.

In this context, the Egyptian administration has done everything in its power to ensure that the Sudanese accept the union with Egypt since the Sudanese Graduate Conference put forward the idea of self-determination in April 1942.

Relying on the historical, religious, cultural, social and political ties between the two countries on the one hand, and to preserve the desire of a large segment of Sudanese to unite with Egypt on the other hand.

However, the Sudanese choice of independence did not make the Egyptian administration succumb to these ties or disavow them.

Rather, it took the initiative and accepted independence immediately in January 1956, announcing it to everyone, and even offering congratulations to the Sudanese people.

And it realizes that its respect for that desire will make Sudan appreciate this position, and will be a strong supporter of Egypt and Arabism and aid to it, which is what actually happened.
