Abstract AR

Abstract EN

The research aimed to study the problem of the obvious difference The research aimed to study the problem of what the tomato crop is exposed to by intense competition in global markets, especially the European market, which led to the instability of the quantity of exports, and that these exports face many organizational and promotional obstacles such as: weak interconnectedness between local production methods and foreign competition, low interest of exporters in marketing operations And standard specifications for exported goods The lack of information and market and marketing studies for foreign markets, the weak availability of advanced production bases that support the activity of agricultural exports, the lack of clarification of proper export planning among the exporters, and it is evident from the results that the percentage of the cultivated area of the tomato crop amounted to about 27.3% of the vegetable area, which is about 488.7 thousand feddans.

The tomato crop is considered one of the most important vegetable crops, as its production rate reached about 39.6% of the total vegetable production, with an average of about 39.6 thousand tons during the period under study.

By studying the current situation of tomato production worldwide, it becomes clear that the Egyptian tomatoes ranked fifth in the world in producing fresh tomatoes with an average production of about 7.913 million tons, equivalent to 5.3% of the world production during the period under study, as is also evident from the current position of tomato exports on The level of the world that the Egyptian tomatoes ranked sixth among the most important tomato exporting countries in the worldAs the quantity of its exports amounted to about 290 thousand tons, equivalent to 3.4% of the total global exports.

It is also clear that the ratio of the value of Egyptian tomato exports to the value of agricultural exports during the period under study was about 0.16%.

The crop, which is about 7.937 million tonsBy studying the market shares of Egyptian tomatoes in its most important global markets, it becomes clear that Egypt's tomato exports were concentrated in six major countries: Syria, Saudi Arabia, the Netherlands, Kuwait, Italy and the United Kingdom.

The average market share of Egyptian tomato exports to these countries was estimated at 7.8%, 0.085%, 0.008%, 0.028%, 0.001% and 0.001% respectively As it is evident from the price competitiveness study that the relative export prices of Mexico, Morocco, Belgium, Canada, Spain, and America are not close to the correct one, which indicates the lack of convergence of export prices for the exporting countries of the tomato crop and in relation to the relative export prices of the Netherlands, Mexican, Moroccan, Belgian, Canadian, And Spanish, and American in relation to Egypt, it was found that the average relative prices for export amounted to about 2.7%, 2%, 3.4%, 5.3%, 3% and 1.2% respectively, indicating that the average Egyptian export prices are less than the average export prices in these countries for the tomato crop.

By studying the percentage of Egypt’s penetration of the most important Arab markets, it becomes clear that Syria, Saudi Arabia and Kuwait represent a high percentage, as it is characterized by stability in the percentage of penetration of the tomato crop, as that percentage for Kuwait reached about 0.002% in 2001, then decreased to about 0.10 during the year 2015, then reached a maximum of about 0.10 in 2015 and it is also clear The penetration rate of the European Union countries that import Egyptian tomatoes, including the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, and Italy is a low percentage as it is characterized by the relative stability of the penetration rate of the tomato crop during the period under study.
